GUYS I DIDN'T DIE I'M BACK HI!!!
So. Now that I got that out of my system, I must inform you of the epicness of camping in Vermont. Now, mind you, it was my first time camping in a tent, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a very outdoorsy kinda person so being one on one with the great wilderness was really something spectacular to me. Granted, it was a four hour ride with three children under the age of ten cramped into a minivan, and these children were like a broken record. MOM MOM MOM MOM MOMMY MOM MOM MOM CAN I HAVE A BROWNIE MOM MOM I'M HUNGRY MOM MOM MOMMY MUMMA I HAVE TO PEE MOMMY I REALLY HAVE TO PEE MOM MOM MOM MUMMA. But alas, I love these children, so even when the two older ones were fighting, I didn't mind all too much. the campground was right on the lake, and it was very tight, but as it was my first time camping, I didn't really mind. However, the bathrooms were terrifying, as I have a paralyzing fear of arachnids and the facilities were LOADED with them. SO guess who didn't shower at all and almost went crazy because of it? You guessed it. MOI. But, here I am, I'm a alive, and I'm a SENIOR. Shits gunna hit the fan :D

Oh, Really?
So I've been doing some thinking. I don't know what about. I've just been sitting here, marinating in my boredom, wondering what will happen to me in the future. I haven't had the best life out there, as a matter of fact, I'd describe it as, well, shitty up until recently. Once I got away from all the crap going on with my dad, I got a lot better. But I still wonder what will become of me, as I suppose most rising High School seniors do. I've had college in my sights for my whole life, so I know that's definitely in my future, but I'm afraid I won't get into a good one. I guess it's my pessimistic side taking over, which kinda reminds me of the occasional easy blushing that I get betrayed by due to my strong Irish nature...even though it's nothing like being a pessimist....

Music is a Regular Heartbeat.........Continued
So, I never really finished my last blog. I left off with "Cyber bullying" and how that makes school life so much more difficult than it was even 20 years ago. Back then, kids didn't really do much outside of school, but now, most bullying IS outside of school. Text messaging, Facebook, MySpace, AIM, and other chat rooms and social networks are all grand openings to bullying. We've all seen the results. Phoebe Prince was bullied so badly she committed suicide. Kids all over the world are turning to this as the only way out...
One of the main reasons for bullying?
Your personality. The clothes you wear, how you express yourself. If you're artistic, you get bullied. If you write poetry, or anything of the sort, that seems dark and emotional, you get bullied. It seems like only jocks and cheerleaders and people who follow trends don't get bullied. Anyone who stands out from the crowd is an easy target. Anyone who is sensitive and emotional is an easy target. if you don't dress in Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, or American Eagle, you are an easy target. How fair is that?
Hell, I remember getting bullied because someone liked my shirt, asked me where I got it, and when I said Walmart, that was the end of that. The shirt was no longer cool, and I was an easy target because the person figured out I don't have a lot of money. Yeah, that still happens. If your family isn't filthy rich, you get bullied. Kids these days are cruel, and heartless. They don't care what you've gone through, just as long as they get the satisfaction of making themselves seem like the shit by putting down someone who probably has a heart of gold compared to the bully's cast-iron bank account of a heart.
Seriously, bullying needs to stop. Parents need to pay more attention to what their kids are doing, whether their kid is the bully or the victim. You'd say that the kids don't talk to their parents about it, or they'll lie, but what kid wants to admit that they're being bullied in school? It means their weak, or at least that's what these poor kids think, so they'll keep quiet when their parents start to ask questions. So parents, be persistent, but not nagging. Spend some time with your kid(s). Maybe then they'll talk to you about the bullying problem, and maybe if you have a good relationship with your kid, they won't bully. It really does matter. Whether you think so or not.

Music is a Regular Heartbeat
Hey guys :)
One thing that you'll notice about me, and it will be a frequent topic in this blog, is that I am in love with music. Music is something that I literally NEED to survive, and I'm sure a lot of you can relate to that. Music can speak in ways that the human mind can never accomplish. It can explain your feelings better than your words can. It can take you away from the chaos of this cruel world in a way that a cruise to the Caribbean never will.
I believe that society itself relies on music for self expression. There's expression through clothing, sure, which is a quick window into what a person is like, but today so many people are afraid to break out of the fashion trends to show their personalities. This especially goes for teenagers, and that's why our music means so much to us. As the bullying in school increases, and the "hey, wanna get high/drunk/laid at <insert name here>'s party tonight?" becomes a broken record, the ones who long to not get sucked into the void of peer pressure and self manipulation turn to music as a safe-haven. Thousands, probably millions, of teenagers and young adults, and even preteens and children, blast their music to escape the realm of the pain they experience in school. And older adults, maybe our parents and grandparents, tell us their bully stories from when they were in school, but they don't realize how much things have changed. When they were in school, there was no such thing as "Cyber Bullying"....

Blog Two of the Day: The Adventures of an Over-stressed Teen!
Well, good evening everyone who may or may not be reading this (although I don't understand why I added the "may not" part. Obviously they're not reading it....).
Today, after weeks of endless job applications for every job on this side of the rainbow (and believe me, I've considered crossing over) I finally got an interview scheduled. It's for a company called MassPirge, which basically just promotes recycling and benefiting the environment nationwide. Naturally, I won't be going that far, I just have to commute to downtown Boston. Go me, right? NOT. As enthusiastic as I am about this offer (I'm a huge tree hugger), a tiny voice in the back of my head says that when the woman called for me and asked if I am a graduate, she meant COLLEGE graduate, not high school, which is why she probably got so excited when I said that I'm a senior..... so anyway, wish me luck, at either getting the job, or quickly recovering from the embarrassment of getting all dolled up and going to Boston only to be told I don't qualify.....damn, that would suck...

Everyone is Different
So I'm learning things that irritate me quite a bit. One of them the constant badgering of celebrities, and especially the ones that the younger population follows. Who could be a more perfect example than Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus?
Now, I'm not advocating for either of them, as I prefer non-winey, non-prepubescent music myself, but the constant rumors and photoshopped pictures posted on Facebook really get on my nerves. Sure, half the female (and an almost equal amount of male) teenage population has some sort of frightening obsession with the "musical prodigy" that is Justin Bieber, but that doesn't mean it's okay to clog up everyone's News Feed on Facebook. People like me, and a vast majority of my friends, find this singer quite irritating and not very talented at all, but we don't post these opinions every two minutes. I mean, I know there's an option to "hide" someone or something, and believe me, I've done that, too. But after a while, people just get fed up with it. I mean, it's bad enough that you're picking on these artists who are making something of themselves, but you're also posting it on a social network, and all it really gets you is a lot of frustrated people.
The world is full of people who are all very different, and it makes me want to rip hair out when no one respects a wonderful thing called individuality.

Well, Let's Give It a Go :)
I've always been big on introductions. I like knowing people, and as conceited as it may sound, I like people to know me. So, allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Elizabeth Blake, but I'd much prefer to be called Lizz, and please, make sure you use two Zs. It's a very frequent and slightly irritating name-spelling mistake. I am 17.8 years old, and I include the .8 because it means that I am closer to 18 than to 17, which is actually quite a big deal for me, but maybe we'll get into that later.
Anyway, my interests include a few teenagery things (is teenagery even a word???) such as texting, wreaking havoc with my friends, and the occasional gossip swap, although I'd much rather keep away from gossip...
I also enjoy writing, reading, sleeping, EATING, long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners, and cuddling by a warm fire. Ahh, the joys of making this blog sound like a dating profile. But fear not, I am merely ranting about my outlook on life, with the help of my lovely fiance, who is still unaware of this recent hobby of mine (the blogging...).
So that is a brief, and potentially boring, introduction of a sarcastic, possomistic teenager. And by the way, a possomist is one who is a pleasant and humorous mixture of a pessimist and an optimist, not one who has an unusual love for possums. It's a made up word, therefore it is not in the dictionary.
